Puggy Love

A psychedelic mixed media artwork by Op artist and IN:SIGHT 2018 winner Richard Levine, as part of our Autumn 2018 collection.

 After being crowned the winner of our IN:SIGHT 2018 competition, we are proud to release Richard’s debut body of work – inspired by the humble pooch!

Fascinated by patterns, the artist and graphic designer is influenced by Andy Warhol and 1960s Op artists, including Victor Vasarely and Richard Anuszkiewicz. He is particularly intrigued by the potential of an image to transform through flat colours and geometric shapes, describing it as “mesmeric”.

Speaking on this piece, he says: “The pug is another breed with fascinating facial features. Like it’s relation, the pug is instantly recognisable; familiar yet alien, cute and lovable and always interesting to look at.”
